About Us

First Teachers @ Home, an initiative of RUSH, is a grass roots, community-driven, non-profit organization. First Teachers @ Home programs are in Jefferson, Walker, Tuscaloosa, Pickens, and Hale counties.

First Teachers @ Home has a number of paid and volunteer parent coaches who work with families in their homes or at centers weekly to demonstrate to the parents how to teach their kids the skills they need to succeed in school.

Our incredible staff establishes strong bonds with the families and makes a significant contribution to changing the understanding of the families about what they need to teach their kids.

This program depends upon a broad array of volunteers to make our program soar.  We are so grateful for the efforts of so many.

Special thanks to Gary Tramontina, our photographer, who has donatated his time and incredible talents to capture the beautiful and moving images on this website. Click here to contact him.
