Who We Are
RUSH Initiative- a grass roots community driven non profit organization. Although headquartered in Birmingham, our programs are primarily in Walker County and West Jefferson County, Alabama. Recently RUSH started a pilot program in the City of Birmingham.

Susan Swartz, President- She has significant experience in a variety of community programs, and as a volunteer for a number of organizations. Susan has a business background, and was employed as a social worker in New York city immediately after college. Susan is a volunteer.
Tammy Goodwin, Administrator and bookkeeper- worked in health care for a number of years and also drives a school bus that handles special needs children.
Angela Williams-Nall, Director of Community Organization
Natasha Rembert, Development Director
Parent Coaches- paid staff or volunteers who work with families in their homes or at centers weekly to teach parents how to teach their kids the skills they need to succeed in school. This incredible staff establishes strong bonds with their families, and makes a significant contribution to changing the understanding of the families about what they need to teach their kids.
RUSH Initiative depends upon a broad array of volunteers to make our program soar. We are so grateful for the efforts of so many.
