RUSH Receives Birmingham Youth Program Award

RUSH Initiative's First Teachers @ Home family education program has been recognized by the City of Birmingham Mayor’s Office Division of Youth Services with a Programs That Work award.
This award highlights grassroots, community-based programs that are making a tangible difference in the lives of Birmingham’s youth. First Teachers@Home fosters parent involvement in school and community life to maximize the early school success of the children.
During the month in January, RUSH President Susan Swartz will discuss aspects of the program on the cable television show "Spotlight On Youth" hosted by Cedric Sparks, DYS Executive Director. The show airs several times a week on Bright House Networks Channel 4 and VOD Channel 1040.
Airtimes are Mondays and Tuesdays at 5:30 P.M., Thursdays at 6:00 P.M., and Fridays at 6:30 P.M. on Bright House Networks Channel 4 and Bright House VOD Channel 1040.
ABOUT RUSH
RUSH Initiative is a grass roots, community driven non-profit organization, with programs in Walker and West Jefferson Counties and the City of Birmingham. RUSH’s core mission is to empower parents as primary educators of their children in the home.
With grant funding at an all-time low, private donations are being solicited to keep programs in operation, and to continue expansion into more communities. RUSH Initiative is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization. Donations can be made online.
